Hello and welcome! I’m so excited you’re here. My name is Monica, and I’m the founder and creative mind behind Borrowed & Blüm. Before I entered the world of flowers, I had a very different career path—one rooted in the sciences.
For several years, I worked as a researcher in the lab, which led me to a project management role in the dynamic and innovative Research Triangle Park (RTP) here in North Carolina. RTP is known for its thriving scientific community, and I loved every minute of my time in this high-paced, solution-driven field. However, life had other plans for me, and I had to leave my role after being diagnosed with a chronic illness. This unexpected change turned my entire world upside down, but it also led me down a new, beautiful path.
As I navigated my new reality, I discovered the therapeutic nature of flowers. What began as a form of self-care quickly grew into something more. The creativity and artistry I found in florals sparked a new passion and, honestly, a new part of myself that I didn’t know existed. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this newfound passion could be something more than just a hobby—I could carve out a new career path for myself!
And that’s exactly what I did. I created Borrowed & Blüm with a simple but powerful mission: to offer planners and clients an alternative in floristry by providing rentable, sustainable faux floral designs. Whether it's a breathtaking floral installation or a charming table arrangement, I wanted to show that artificial flowers can have just as much beauty, impact, and elegance as fresh blooms. Plus, with my rental service model, I’m able to repurpose and create stunning designs using the carefully curated inventory of flowers I’ve built. This not only offers a more eco-friendly solution, but also allows clients to maximize their budget and achieve truly impactful, jaw-dropping designs that leave a lasting impression.
What sets my approach apart is that I blend my scientific background with my creative design process. The attention to detail, the precision, and the methodical approach I learned in the lab have all influenced how I craft my floral designs—nothing is left to chance, and everything is thoughtfully considered. I’ve combined the best of both worlds: the beauty and artistry of florals with a precise, systems-based approach that ensures a smooth, reliable experience for my clients.
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I’m so excited to share my passion with you! Whether you're a wedding planner, event coordinator, or someone looking to make your special day even more unforgettable, I can’t wait to bring your vision to life with stunning, realistic floral designs that leave a lasting impression.
Stay tuned as I share more about my work, the process behind my designs, and tips for creating floral magic at your next event.
With love and blooms,
